The right light set-up for your band

The right light set-up for your band

Perhaps you have started a band or have been involved with one for quite a long time and you are now at that stage of your collective career or hobby where you want to take it to the next level. While you all have the best instruments and your individual and collective talents are shining through with each gig, you just find yourselves needing that something extra. While pyrotechnics or other onstage possibilities might out of the question, you can take a look at your lighting rig and see if you can introduce new elements to it that will complement your onstage presence.

Control the vibe

Control the vibe

Getting you a led strip controller is a great idea. It will help you or whoever is going to control your lighting system to control the brightness an color levels of the experience. One song might demand a particular piece of timing while another might need something different. The frequency can be timed to faster songs and it can be slowed for the melodies. The two – lighting and music – can effectively act hand in hand and leave those watching the experienced amazed by its organization and beauty. They will return for more the next time and be happy to pay the higher door charge, which you can increase to help pay for your new lighting arrangement.

Employ someone to do it for you

While it can be a case of all for one and one for all, if you and your band can afford it, you should get an outsourced company to look after your lighting needs. They, being the trained professionals that they are, will be able to get you the best arrangement. Obviously, this will be subject to the price they charge – and whether or not you can afford it. There are a lot of options available on the Internet or in your local directory even. These search engines – both digitally and physically – will help you discover the right options.

Ask around

You may well know people that work in the lighting industry. They can advise you accordingly. The advice hopefully will come free, and instead of having someone quote you, you can effectively go directly to the source because of that conversation you had with someone or another in passing.

Learn from experience

Think about all the great bands of the past, the ones you look up to. They would have got their music, let alone their lighting system, wrong a good few times before finding the right groove for the future. Their roadies would have had to experiment time and time again with this or that arrangement, before eventually settling on what works best – indoors and outdoors. That’s right, what might work for an indoor gig might not be right for the outdoors, given the natural light offered by the sun. So consider that too, if you have the luxury of being invited to play at both sorts of venues and festivals. And, in the end, just enjoy the time you have on stage.

7 Tips for Preparing for your Home Study

The adoption process is filled with wonder, excitement, and anxiety. Oh yeah, and there are some stressful moments sprinkled in too. Perhaps none more sweat inducing than the home study. The adoption home study is a process that anyone who adopts has to go through, and it’s definitely an intimidating time in the process, but try not to let that get you down. Sure, home studies are a big deal, and they do play a large role in whether or not you qualify to adopt a child. Here are some tips for handling your home study.Get Started on the Paperwork: Paperwork sucks! You know it, I know it, everybody knows it - and the adoption process is loaded with it; from emergency plans to parenting plans, and a host of other stuff. It’s tedious, it’s frustrating, and it can be downright dull. But it’s necessary.Calm Down: It’s easy to get worked up during this process, especially knowing that this could be the deciding factor in your approval. But don’t get yourself worked up over this. Home studies are nothing more than a routine part of the process. They aren’t meant to find a reason NOT to have you approved, and there really isn’t much to worry about here. Besides, your adoption agency is going to let you know everything you need to have for a successful home study.Follow the Checklist: Before your home study begins, your adoption agency will give you a checklist to follow. This will probably consist of things like; background checks, birth certificates (of all occupants), and parenting plan statement to name a few. You will also be given a list of things that should have completed before the agent comes out to your house to conduct the study. Be sure to address everything on that checklist; if it weren’t important, then it wouldn’t be on the list. Nothing is okay to overlook.Be Yourself: I’m always reminded of the episode of Friends “The One with the Home Study” where Chandler and Monica wanted their social worker to like them so badly they were even willing to throw Joey under the bus. Like any good 90’s sitcom, it blew up in there faces and hilarity ensued. But again, like any good 90’s sitcom, it all worked out in the end. Still, there is a lesson to be learned here. Just be you. It’s easy to want to embellish in these situations, whether it finances, or even just your overall lives. Don’t! Your social worker wants to get to know who you are individually, and as a family and it’s imperative that you're honest. The fastest way to fail your home study is to lie on your paperwork or during your home study.Safety: Before you’re social worker gets to your home, make sure everything is tidy - cleanliness is always important. You should also be sure to have all of your cabinets locked and keep anything that is a potential hazard out of a child's reach. If you have firearms, ensure that they are secured in an out of reach safe. You’ll also want to make sure that all of your smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and fire extinguishers are in working condition and appropriately placed throughout the home. Oh, and you’ll want to make sure you have a first-aid kit in your house.Have the Room Ready: This isn’t a necessity, but if you know that you want a baby then go ahead and set-up the room that the baby is going to be sleeping in. Not only will it show that you have enough space for your new addition, but it will also show that you are dedicated to giving your new child everything they need. You’ll do Great: The home study can be a scary thing, and it’s okay to be nervous, it shows you care. Just stay calm, be yourselves, and follow the checklist exactly, and you’ll be well on your way to having a baby placed with you. Don’t worry; you’ll do great! Upgrading Your Home to a Smart Home

It seems like a thing of the future; something reminiscent of sci-fi films set on spaceships, complete with large, omniscient motherboard computers. But having a smart home controlled by virtual voice command technology is very much a thing of the present. With the release of Apple’s Siri technology in 2011, the virtual assistant game was changed. The ability to give commands verbally to an in-device personality, Siri, opened the door for easier, more productive living. Now with Amazon and Google joining the race, and other companies following suit, there’s suddenly a whole heap of new virtual assistant options.Moving away from purely phone/tablet based assistants, the market now includes home-based alternatives. Google Home or Amazon’s Echo (complete with assistant Alexa) allows users to turn their space into “smart homes”, wherein with a simple verbal command, they can instruct their assistant to perform all kinds of tasks around the home, such as turning lights on and off. There are also some things you should be careful about. According to Lendi smart home can be targeted by hackers since the whole house is connected via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Some of the best things include While upgrading Smart Home:Controlling lights Changing a home’s temperature Playing music Opening/closing garage doorsThere are loads more options you can choose from, and third-party capabilities you can put in place (Amazon’s Alexa can perform over 10,000 tasks!), like creating lighting sensors, or scheduling changes to your lights, alarms, and thermostat.Virtual voice assistants also signal a massive change in the lives of people living with disabilities or illness. The chance to utilise voice commands to perform everyday tasks removes the barrier that mobility issues and physical impairment create. For able-bodied people, virtual assistants are a cool new way to increase productivity and promote convenience. Consider then the massive improvement this technology can make in the lives of people living and thriving with disabilities. The extra support can be life-changing. All in all, another point scored for the virtual assistants’ pros list. So, the basic gist is that having your house properly set up as a smart home is awesome and opens you up to a heap of benefits. However, setting the system up can be confusing. You’ll largely need to consider two things: Choosing your assistant: The main players that hold the monopoly on the smart home/virtual assistant market are Amazon’s Alexa, Apple’s Siri, and Google’s Assistant. They all have their pros and cons, and your choosing which one suits you best is ultimately a matter of personal preference. They all offer easy-to-use voice commands, but there are several different things to consider when deciding on an assistant:Price Capabilities (what can you do/control?) Compatibility with Android or Apple products Ease of set-up (how long and difficult is it to get running?) Ease of use (Is it perceptive and easy to talk to?) Assistant’s intelligence (How easily and well it can answer questions.)Choose your hardware: After deciding on your virtual assistant, you’ll need physical hardware to support it. Each different assistant offers different options, like the Amazon Echo. They too have their pros and cons. There are also different models of each hardware device, so there are multiple cost, sound and utility options. Your hardware largely depends on which assistant you choose, so that will also narrow down your options. The last important thing to think about when considering the purchase of a virtual voice assistant is your internet’s performance. If you’re having to use your phone’s personal hotspot at home because your connection is slow and temperamental, perhaps think about changing your home internet’s carrier or plan. You’ll need to choose a reliable broadband connection to run and use your assisting device, and you may need to research bandwidth, and how this affects how well your devices stream content and perform commands.Read Also:8 Smart House Upgrades That Are Totally Worth The Money 8 Tried And Tested Secrets Of A Productive Home Office

Home Upgrades

3 Home Upgrades to Make Your Property Unique

Your home is one of the most valuable things you’ll ever buy. Whether you’re planning on staying in the same place long-term, or you want to sell one day soon, it’s worth looking into some of the ways that you can make your property more unique. Although you can add value to your home by upgrading the kitchen or changing the bathroom, it’s going to be hard to attract attention, and transform your lifestyle with these basic changes. That’s why today, we’re going to look at some of the clever ways that you can make your property the topic of conversation for the entire town. Invest in Fun and Relaxation:Having the most modern kitchen or bathroom on the block is great, but it doesn’t make your home much different from any other on your street. On the other hand, investing in the things you enjoy the most could be a great way to make your home stand out, and improve your lifestyle at the same time. For instance, if you’re the kind of person who loves movies, why not turn a spare room or basement into an entertainment center for you and your friends. If you love taking trips to the spa with your loved ones, why not invest in having your own luxury spa experience at home, by installing your own sauna or hot tub. It might seem indulgent at first, but this is one of the best ways to ensure that you get the house of your dreams, and it could mean that you could sell your property for more too. Spend on Long-Term Convenience: Have you ever considered installing awe-inspiring residential elevators into your home? Many people assume that they should only begin thinking about a home elevator when they’re getting older or having trouble with their mobility. However, these investments can also make it much easier to get around the house and move things between floors too. You can carry huge amounts of shopping and laundry up and down stairs without having to worry about hurting your back or dropping things along the way. What’s more, as you do get a little older, you’ll find that having your own home elevator protects you from a range of accidents. All that, and you’ve got a fantastic way to make your home stand out. Experiment with Tech:Finally, we’re all bringing more technology into our homes these days, particularly with the rise of things like smart speakers and AI-enhanced solutions. If you’re looking to join the tech revolution, you might decide that it’s time to start investing in your own tech solutions. One option could be to install a new security system that uses things like facial recognition, biometric eye scanning, and fingerprints to give you access to your home, instead of a key that’s easy to lose. Another option might be to look into things like smart entertainment and lighting that you can control with your smartphone or your voice. The number of smart upgrades available for homeowners today is increasing all the time.Read Also:Home Remodeling Tips 3 Trendy Lighting Ideas for Your Kitchen Island Small Kitchen Storage Ideas Top 5 Trending Home Renovation Ideas For Australian Families
